Michael Murray
Michael had an extensive career in the film industry from the mid-80s till the early 2000s. Starting as a researcher and production manager, he soon began producing and directing, delivering over 11 hours of international TV programming. Some of his credits include Bronzed Aussie Gods (ABC, Ch5 UK), Sacred Sex (Miramax Cinema Release ABC, BBC), The Barefoot Bushman (Wildlife Series for Ch7 and Discovery), Going Tribal (SBS, RAI), Hare Krishnas - Hiders or Seekers? SBS, Nat Geo, Discovery).
My Story
He originally studied Architectural Drafting at QUT, Brisbane, but quickly moved into theatre. After spending some years employed as a stage manager in Sydney, he began managing live acts. In the late 1970s, along with the Father of Australian Events, Johnny Allan, he formed Cabaret Conspiracy. This theatre production company produced and toured multiple live acts throughout the eastern states.
Since 2001, Michael has been the principal of Byron Property Search, a buyers agency based in Byron Bay. But has not wholly left the film industry, as he has also been a location scout for several feature films and TVCs. He lives with his wife Susanna and daughter Lucia in the Byron hinterland, where he also involves himself in various local NFPs and community volunteer work.
